This system automatically bans them considering most are compromised accounts anyways. When accounts are used to spam advertisements, a member of the staff team can report it to be filtered into the spam bot system. We also already have protection against spam bots. I feel like an automatic system like this would make it difficult to determine when players should be punished and when they shouldn't since it depends on the situation. As long as the messages aren't completely flooding chat and are not identical, players aren't going to be punished for it. We don't exactly determine spam based on the amount of time between messages. Mainly, I feel this would lead to a lot of players being unfairly punished. I have to agree with those above me that I don't think a system like this should be implemented. In my opinion, this is the most effective method of dealing with this issue rather than muting users who send messages quickly as I just don't believe the risk of false punishments is worth it. This ensures that when a spambot begins to spam on Mineplex, it will automatically be banned. If a regular user did get muted, it takes time on both the member and staff to correct it which wouldn't even be dealt with within the mute time.įurthermore, certain phrases/words are already added to an anti-spambot system for phrases/words commonly used by these bots. I wouldn't want to be worrying that I would send messages too quickly and end up being muted when I'm just having a regular conversation. Players get excited and send messages quickly, and with the change in the spam rule this is fine as long as it's not done with ill intent or in excess. WIth an automate mute system, this would be the same thing. With GWEN having the ability to ban itself I'm sure you've noticed false bans occurring and resulting in having to spend time on creating an appeal in order for it to be removed which takes time on both the user's, FN and QA member/s. Through adding automated punishment systems in-game the likelihood of false punishments always increases, unfortunately.
